Topics getting the most attention in Grove City public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Outdoor storage permit for RHS Storage
A special use permit would let RHS Storage operate outdoor storage at 5885 Haughn Road.
Participatory budgeting idea
Council Member Anderson floated letting residents directly decide how a pot of tax dollars is spent in their ward. Staff noted the parks master plan already gathered heavy public input, but no commitment was made.
2027 Tax Levies Certified
The city certified its 3.5-mill property tax levy to the county — unchanged for 20 years, producing $6.6 million for police pensions, debt service, and the general fund.
Retroactive setback variance for built seating wall on corner lot
Seven of the eight variances let homeowners and builders push fences, decks, and additions into required front or rear setbacks — typically by 6 to 10 feet. None drew neighbor opposition.
Historical Plaques and Markers Program
The Commission continues its marker program, including the John Hoover marker and installation of the plaque at 3980 Broadway.
Hoover Road Bridge Reopening
Two-way traffic returns to the Hoover Road bridge Wednesday at 2 p.m.; the sidepath needs a couple more weeks for fencing and finishing.
Parking and Trailer Restrictions
New rules: yellow-curb parking bans are now enforceable, posted time limits can actually be cited, and trailers on residential streets must display a safety cone and move promptly after work — at police request.
Rieser Brothers Auto Body expansion
A Grove City Road business since 1971 wants to add 3,550 square feet of shop space so more repair work happens indoors. Commissioners praised the shop's appearance and screening.
City flag redesign
Staff previewed a candidate flag design for the city rebranding, but President Berry objected, calling it a logo banner rather than a historic flag, and said he'll propose keeping the current flag.
McDowell Road construction
Lane-reduction and sidepath work on McDowell Road from White Road to Stringtown began, targeting completion before Thanksgiving, mostly funded by outside grants.
Parking in the Broadway Historic Preservation Area
A long-standing Broadway business lost its informal shared-parking arrangement with a neighboring property and asked for a variance to put parking in front of its historic office building. The board granted it with landscaping and curb-cut conditions, noting many other Broadway businesses already park in front.
Church sign variances at 4770 Hoover Road
The Nazarene Church, which shares its property with Grove City Christian School, wanted a larger sign to brand both institutions and advertise community events like VBS and Easter services. The board granted all three variances — height, area, and a seasonal changeable panel.
